QingdaoMedical College of Qingdao University currently enrolls 4,508 undergraduate students, 3,583 master's and doctoral students, and 300 international students. The college has 411 full-time faculty members, which includes 95 professors and 124 clinical teachers.
The college offers six first-level doctoral programs in Clinical Medicine, Basic Medicine, Special Medicine, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Pharmacy, and Biology, as well as 49 second-level doctoral programs. Additionally, there are nine first-level master's programs and 56 second-level master's programs. The college provides three types of professional doctoral degrees across 27 fields, six types of professional master's degrees across 33 fields, and maintains six postdoctoral research stations.
Ophthalmology is recognized as a national key discipline, while Physiology is a nationally recognized key cultivation discipline. Orthopedics is designated as a national key specialty. Six disciplines—Clinical Medicine, Neuroscience and Behavior, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, and Immunology—are ranked in the top 1% globally according to ESI, with Clinical Medicine ranked in the top 0.129%.
Qingdao UniversityQingdaoMedical College comprises five colleges: the School of Basic Medicine, the School of Stomatology, the School of Public Health, the School of Pharmacy, and the School of Nursing. It also includes four departments: the Department of Clinical Medicine, the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, the Department of Medical Imaging, and the Department of Pediatrics. The college operates 22 research institutes, a Biomedical Center, and an International Ophthalmology Research Center. It is affiliated with 12 hospitals and 3 teaching hospitals, offering more than 20,000 teaching and internship beds.
The college is a national demonstration center for basic medical teaching and clinical training, and a national model for innovative talent training. It ranked 21st in the "Total Science and Technology Value of Chinese Medical Colleges (ASTEM) 2018-2022" and 47th in the "Total Science and Technology Value of Chinese Hospitals (ASTEM) 2018-2022", with 23 disciplines ranking in the top 50 nationwide. In the 2024 Nature Index ranking of mainland Chinese universities, it ranked 50th domestically and 156th globally.
The programs in Clinical Medicine, Stomatology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy, Preventive Medicine, Nursing, and Medical Imaging have been approved as national first-class undergraduate programs, with Clinical Medicine recognized as a national specialty. The college currently offers three national quality courses, four national first-class courses, and two national experimental teaching demonstration centers.
Over the past five years, the college has received 38 national and provincial-level awards, including one second prize for National Scientific and Technological Progress, four first prizes, 25 second prizes, and eight third prizes for provincial scientific and technological progress. It has published 11,381 high-level academic papers in medical-related disciplines, obtained 2,047 patents, and secured 473 National Natural Science Foundation grants, 11 national key and major project approvals, with over 430 million yuan in funding.
Adhering to an internationalization and open education strategy, the college has established friendly exchange and cooperation relationships with 32 institutions and research organizations in nearly 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Singapore, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Germany, and Hong Kong, China.Additionally,wehavelaunched short-term overseas study programs with 16 well-known foreign universities.
